Full course description

ASPIRE Semester 1, Course 6
January 20th, 2026

This course examines the alignment of educational standards, curriculum frameworks, and instructional design across three certification tracks—P–3, K–6, and Secondary—to prepare pre-service teachers for evidence based, standards aligned teaching. Candidates will analyze grade appropriate content standards (e.g., Early Childhood, Common Core, state frameworks), identify coherent instructional units, and apply assessment strategies tailored to their chosen track. Through field-based and reflective practice, participants will examine the elements of rigorous, developmentally responsive, and culturally inclusive curriculum aligned with professional teaching standards and apply this knowledge to their school/district-required curriculum. Standards addressed: NJ Professional Standards for Teachers 4, 7; CAEP R1.3; INTASC 4, 7
