Spring 2026, Semester 4, Course 26: Focus on Broader Community
January 15th, 2026

This course empowers educators to define and grow their professional identities by recognizing their unique strengths, exploring professional organizations, and identifying pathways for continued learning and leadership. Candidates will investigate national and international professional associations (e.g., ASCD, ISTE, AERA, NSTA), attend or review key educational conferences (e.g., ISTELive, ASCD Annual Conference), and discover how to build Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) that enhance visibility and influence in the broader educational community. The course also provides guidance for planning school-based leadership projects, applying for credentials or fellowships, and engaging in ongoing professional development that aligns with long-term goals as reflective, ethical, and collaborative practitioners.

The ASPIRE to Teach experience

ASPIRE to Teach offers an online program experience with an assigned ASPIRE Lead Instructor (ALI) who is a veteran educator and provides guidance, direction, and feedback in each course. During Fall and Spring terms, ASPIRE candidates also participate in with Professional Learning Community (PLC) Saturday Sessions (8:30am-1:30pm) that occur twice each term (2 PLCs in Fall, 2 PLCs in Spring). During the Summer terms, there are no PLC Saturday Sessions (alternate assignments replace the PLC content).
