RECORDED OPIOID SAFETY GRAND ROUNDRegistration open and course begins December 15th, 2023.

Undertreated Pain Due to Lack of Patient (Data) History is a recorded opioid safety grand round that will provide standardized, comprehensive, easily accessible, evidence-based education on best practices and current laws regarding opioids for professionals throughout the State. This 1 recorded case study focuses on utilizing patient history, the physical exam upon admission, cultural components associated with pain, and understanding the language of pain from patients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  As a result of participation in this course, members of the interprofessional team will improve their ability to:

1. Discuss the importance of the history and physical exam on admission. The learner will be able to inform the patient of the necessary information required to make an accurate assessment.

2. Recognizing the cultural components/perceptions associated with  “complaining” of pain. The learner will be able to take multiple points of view into consideration when performing their assessment.

3. Identifying the language of pain from your patient’s perspective. This will assist the learner in connecting with the patient through effective communication.
