This podcast is part of the NJ ODEP Program that will provide standardized, comprehensive, easily accessible, evidence-based education on best practices and current laws regarding opioids for professionals throughout the State. This pre-recorded podcast interview focuses on what xylazine and desomorphine are, their physiological effects, the presentation, treatment of krokodil-induced skin necrosis in the ER, synergistic effects of xylazine and its role in fatal overdose when mixed with fentanyl and other opiates,  and related topics.

This module is designed to educate New Jersey Physicians; Podiatrists; Physician Assistants; Certified Nurse Midwives; Dentists; Advanced Practice Nurses; Social Workers; Psychologists; Marriage & Family Therapists; and Professional Counselors.

AVAILABLE CREDIT FOR PHYSICIANS: 0.50 AOA Category 1-B and 0.50 AMA PRA Category 1 credit™

AVAILABLE CREDIT FOR OTHER LISTED HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS: This recorded activity satisfies the statutory mandate that physician assistants, podiatrists, certified nurse midwives, nurses, psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists obtain one 1/2 credit in continuing education programs concerning prescription opioid drugs as a condition of licensure renewal. Upon successful completion of the enduring recorded activity, participants will receive a certificate of completion, and should retain it in accordance with their relevant licensing board’s regulations.

To receive full credit, you must be present for the entire recorded podcast interview.

All listed health care professionals must complete the Post Assessment, Attestation Form, and Outcome Survey/Evaluation. Upon completion of these items, Physicians will receive a CME certificate.
